- More than 600 investors with an impact-approach from the entire world will convene on September 9-12 in Oaxaca, Mexico, for the third Latimpacto Conference.
To address global themes such as coming to grips with the impacts of climate change, and to deal with current racial and gender inequalities, Latimpacto – a vibrant network of Latin American and Caribbean peers – is acting as a catalyst to strengthen collaborations, learning opportunities and linkages among companies, organizations and foundations that seek to maximize resources to produce impact in our region.
As part of its objective as an organization, Latimpacto will once more gather worldwide players and investors seeking to contribute to social and environmental change during the third edition of Conference Impact Minds: Beyond Frontiers Conference on September 9-12 in Oaxaca, Mexico..
After its previous rounds held in Cartagena and Rio de Janeiro, the Latimpacto Conference stands out as a unique event in the Latin America and the Caribbean region, gathering more than 600 fund providers with an impact-outlook from private, public and philanthropic sectors, as well as world class impact investors from European and Asian nations, and from the USA and Canada, as Latimpacto CEO Carolina Suárez Visbal explains.
A cofounder of the organization, Carolina Suárez points out that Latimpacto was born thanks to its sister European and Asian networks, which have also worked to maximize resources and produce social and environmental impact. Latimpacto is currently in a position of connecting the entire Latin America, from Patagonia to the Caribbean.
“At the international level, Latimpacto is this Latin American hub. We are interconnected with philanthropy-networks and foundations, as well as corporate actors with a regional perspective, and this unites us as a community working to promote, collaborate, and bolster learning opportunities and linkages”..
This edition of the Conference will focus on vital topics such as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) by approaching gender and racial equity, and will highlight the need for including vulnerable groups to economic and social opportunities. “In Latin America, we are long overdue in terms of social equity and equality; this implies that we must further incorporate vulnerable populations, and that gender and race must cease to be a reason for the lack of opportunities, or for the ways in which we interact as societies”, Suarez points.
The event’s speakers will also address Innovative Finance, a topic that has played a fundamental role in generating systemic changes in inclusiveness and diversity: “at the Conference, we will deal with the essential role of financing; we will speak about the concept of systemic change, and about how these actions produce systemic transformations leading to increased inclusiveness and diversity”.
Another key topic is the Catalytic Green Fund, a joint initiative by Latimpacto and IDB Lab to promote investment in clean and sustainable energies, with a financial focus that sets out to transform the region’s energy landscape. Further, the Conference will address the topic of Bioeconomy, by highlighting its potential to promote sustainable economic development based on the use of renewable biological resources.
This year’s edition of the Conference counts on the confirmed presence of Foundations such as: SURA, FEMSA, Coppel and Coca Cola Latin America, as well as the Bayer Foundation, AB InBev, Mercado Libre and UNICEF. Mexican attendees will include representatives from Nacional Monte de Piedad, the State Government of Nuevo León, the Frisa and Risa Foundation, and Alianza de Inversión en México, among others.
In Mexico, Latimpacto will gather foundations and organizations, investment funds, universities, consultancy companies, accelerators, families and family offices, multilateral organizations and intermediaries with the objectives of creating linkages and offering learning programs, resources, tools and innovative opportunities that facilitate the mobilization of capital for the strategic use of these valuable resources.
