After receiving more than 700 applications from cultural organizations in Mexico, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Chile, and Uruguay, 15 projects proposed by 30 entities were selected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each of the selected initiatives will receive up to USD $100,000 for implementation, totaling nearly USD $1.5 million in investment. In addition, initiatives will be implemented to raise awareness of the participating organizations, as well as opportunities for knowledge exchange and group and individual empowerment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The call, which sought proposals from two organizations from different countries to promote the exchange of knowledge, selected projects that not only stand out for their impact on specific communities but also for fostering collaboration across territories, thus consolidating a dynamic network of cultural initiatives in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The call, which sought proposals from two organizations from different countries to promote the exchange of knowledge, selected projects that not only stand out for their impact on specific communities but also for fostering collaboration across territories, thus consolidating a dynamic network of cultural initiatives in the region.<\/p>\n<cite>Mar\u00eda Mercedes Barrera, Executive Director of the SURA Foundation in Colombia.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The selected proposals were evaluated by 26 independent juries, including artists, cultural managers, art entrepreneurs, and academics such as M\u00f3nica Carrillo, Juan Pablo Socarr\u00e1s, Carlos Honorato, and Florencia Giulio. The evaluation criteria considered included impact and coverage, identity, exchange of experiences, relevance, innovation, and track record. The selection process also included verification of compliance with the requirements, technical evaluation, judging by the juries, and the final presentation of the shortlisted projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt has been a pleasure to serve as a jury member for this edition of Cultura Latinoam\u00e9rica, a much-needed initiative to boost the impact of the cultural and creative industries in the region. The artistic quality of the projects presented, the professionalism of the proposals, and the social impact on specific communities are worth highlighting,\u201d said Florencia Giulio, founder of Pulso\u2014a creative finance studio dedicated to mobilizing investment in the creative economy\u2014and a jury member for the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selected projects:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sound Roots. Afro-diasporic music residencies: Llorona Records and Discos Pac\u00edfico Foundation for Cultural Development, Management, and Diffusion (Colombia) and Portobelo Bay Foundation (Panama).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Amazonian Artist Residencies Network: Viajelog\u00eda Foundation (Colombia) and Contemporary Correlation (Peru).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Poetic and political trans-migrations of migrant bodies: Museum of Antioquia (Colombia) and Lima Art Museum Association \u2013 MALI (Peru).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Brief Truths: Powerful Realities, Sustainable Cities: Mexico City International Documentary Film Festival A.C. and BOGOSHORTS \u2013 Bogot\u00e1 Short Film Festival (Colombia).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Between rhythms: culture, communities, arts and knowledge: Pombas Urbanas Institute (Brazil) and Nuestra Gente Cultural Corporation (Colombia).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vision and tradition: G\u00f3mez y Tamayo Foundation (Colombia) and Design Week Mexico.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FOCUS: The Black Image in Afro-Latin Audiovisuals: Manos Visibles Corporation (Colombia) and Association of Black Audiovisual Professionals \u2013 APAN (Brazil).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The collection has a woman's name: Museum of Contemporary Art of Panama and Museum of Modern Art of Medell\u00edn (Colombia).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Opera of Monsters: Stage of the Arts (Mexico) and the Floating Company Cultural Association (Peru).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Female Amplification: Sound Memories, Champet\u00faas, and Sound Systems: La Comadre Foundation (Colombia) and Musas Sonideras Cooperative (Mexico)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Horizons in Hand.
