- The cultural proposals were selected from more than 700 initiatives from nine Latin American countries to be implemented between 2024 and 2025.
- Each project will receive up to USD $100,000, along with visibility and capacity-building initiatives for participating organizations.

Medellín, June 27, 2024. Considering the sustainability of cultural organizations, their artistic projects, and the exchange of knowledge in the region, the SURA Foundation, in partnership with Latimpacto, launched the Latin American Culture call. After receiving more than 700 applications from cultural organizations in Mexico, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Chile, and Uruguay, 15 projects proposed by 30 entities were selected.
Each of the selected initiatives will receive up to USD $100,000 for implementation, totaling nearly USD $1.5 million in investment. In addition, initiatives will be implemented to raise awareness of the participating organizations, as well as opportunities for knowledge exchange and group and individual empowerment.
The call, which sought proposals from two organizations from different countries to promote the exchange of knowledge, selected projects that not only stand out for their impact on specific communities but also for fostering collaboration across territories, thus consolidating a dynamic network of cultural initiatives in the region.

The selected proposals were evaluated by 26 independent juries, including artists, cultural managers, art entrepreneurs, and academics such as Mónica Carrillo, Juan Pablo Socarrás, Carlos Honorato, and Florencia Giulio. The evaluation criteria considered included impact and coverage, identity, exchange of experiences, relevance, innovation, and track record. The selection process also included verification of compliance with the requirements, technical evaluation, judging by the juries, and the final presentation of the shortlisted projects.
“It has been a pleasure to serve as a jury member for this edition of Cultura Latinoamérica, a much-needed initiative to boost the impact of the cultural and creative industries in the region. The artistic quality of the projects presented, the professionalism of the proposals, and the social impact on specific communities are worth highlighting,” said Florencia Giulio, founder of Pulso—a creative finance studio dedicated to mobilizing investment in the creative economy—and a jury member for the competition.
