We are pleased to present the report “Beyond the discourse: How to integrate gender and climate approaches in impact programs”, the result of a collaboration between WWB Colombia Foundation, WWF Colombia and Latimpacto. This publication is the result of a shared conviction.
The climate crisis and gender inequalities are deeply interconnected challenges. However, they are often addressed in parallel or superficially, limiting the ability to bring about real change.
As organizations committed to sustainable development and investment with an impact lens, we were motivated by the need for a tool that will help transform good intentions into concrete, rigorous and sustainable practices.
This report responds to the need to overcome merely declarative practices, such as greenwashing or gender-washing, and proposes a concrete roadmap for integrating both approaches through action, intentionality and rigorous impact measurement.
Here we gather lessons learned, challenges and recommendations resulting from the joint work with organizations, experts and leaders from all over Latin America and the Caribbean. Through a participatory and reflective process, we identify both advances and gaps that persist between discourse and action, such as the lack of disaggregated data, limited institutional capacities, insufficient funding, socio-cultural barriers and challenges to ensure meaningful community participation.
We firmly believe that integrating gender and climate is not adding complexity, but multiplying impact and justice. Our invitation is to move from discourse to action, with courage to innovate, rigor to measure and commitment to sustain these transformations over time, until gender equality and climate action become the norm rather than the exception.
