A big bet to connect us
When I was 24 years old I read 4 newspapers and 4 science and conservation magazines from cover to cover every day. At that time I was tremendously informed but also quietly depressed. My head was saturated with information, but my heart in its minimum expression. Today in my 40's I miraculously read some newspapers and live practically disconnected from the whirlwind of information platforms that surround me, but every day I get out of bed with a leap of energy because years ago I decided to be very radical in focusing all my time and all my thoughts on creating and connecting possibilities for change and not worrying about problems I could not solve.
Challenges in Latin America exponentially increased with this pandemic give us multiple reasons to care, but there are more reasons to care and connect, to listen to each other and to get to work together. Latin America is one of the most naturally and culturally diverse regions in the world, with tremendous possibilities for transformation and regeneration of the land, with talented people and organizations committed to the eradication of poverty.
At CO_ we joined as founding members of Latimpacto because we have the
commitment to put all our resources of time, talent and capital into creating a more equitable, inclusive and sustainable future for the region. We focus on creating quality opportunities for people and communities that have long been denied them. We understand that the vast majority of systems in place today continue to deepen gaps and degrade ecosystems. Turning this around requires a new vision of how business, investment and philanthropy can work hand in hand to build a new sense of success more aligned with our values. We are convinced that effective collaboration is the only way to bring solutions to the table. of scale to counter the challenges we face today and those we will face more dramatically in the future.
From CO Plataforma, our philanthropic arm, in our last 10 years we have collectively supported more than 800 companies with innovative models that demonstrate that it is possible to do business aligned with the vision of a more equitable and sustainable society.
From CO Capital, our investment arm, we support initiatives with the greatest potential to bring viable solutions to generate better opportunities for the vast majority of people in the region. and to regenerate the ecosystems that represent our greatest wealth for the future.
Latimpacto is a great way to connect with others, share best practices and learn together what we can do individually and collectively to contribute concretely and effectively to reducing social inequality and environmental degradation in our region.
In its positive version this pandemic has taught us the value of not being alone, of being part of a community of people and organizations focused on generating change. We are convinced that with the formation of Latimpacto, change is not only possible at the scale of our imagination and will, but that it is an energy and connection with aligned people and organizations that becomes tremendously powerful to build a future we all aspire to live in.
