- The cultural proposals were selected from more than 700 initiatives from 9 Latin American countries to be implemented between 2024 and 2025.
- Each project will receive up to USD $100,000, along with visibility and capacity building actions for the participating organizations.

Medellín, June 27, 2024. Considering the sustainability of cultural organizations, their artistic projects and the exchange of knowledge in the region, Fundación SURA in alliance with Latimpacto held the call for proposals Cultura Latinoamérica. After receiving more than 700 applications from cultural organizations in Mexico, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Panama, Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Chile and Uruguay, 15 projects proposed by 30 entities were selected.
Each of the selected initiatives will receive up to USD $100,000 for its execution, totaling nearly USD 1.5 million in investment. In addition, actions will be implemented to raise the visibility of the participating organizations, as well as spaces for knowledge exchange and group and individual strengthening.
The call, which sought proposals from two organizations from different countries to promote the exchange of knowledge, selected projects that not only stand out for their impact on specific communities, but also for fostering collaboration between territories to consolidate a dynamic network of cultural initiatives in the region.
"Enabling connections between organizations, promoting artistic creation and fostering cultural work in decent conditions are priority issues for this sector, which is a source of harmonious development in Latin America. Beyond the specific support to each of the projects, this call seeks the exchange of knowledge and the strengthening of networks to enhance the dynamics of the sector".
María Mercedes Barrera, Executive Director of Fundación SURA in Colombia.
The selected proposals were evaluated by 26 independent jurors, including artists, cultural managers, art entrepreneurs and academics such as Mónica Carrillo, Juan Pablo Socarrás, Carlos Honorato and Florencia Giulio. Among the evaluation criteria taken into account were: impact and coverage, identity, exchange of experiences, relevance, innovation and trajectory. The selection process included verification of compliance with the requirements, technical evaluation, assessment by the juries and the final presentation of the shortlisted projects.
"It has been a pleasure to participate as a jury in this edition of Cultura Latinoamérica, a much-needed initiative to boost the impact of cultural and creative industries in the region. It is worth highlighting the artistic quality of the projects presented, the professionalism of the proposals and the social impact on specific communities," said Florencia Giulio, founder of Pulso -a creative finance firm dedicated to mobilizing investment in the creative economy- and jury member of the call for proposals.
