Latimpacto leads social and environmental transformation in Latin America with Impact Minds: Beyond Frontiers

  • More than 600 impact investors from around the world will gather in Oaxaca, Mexico, September 9-12 for the third Latimpacto Conference.

To address global issues such as counteracting the impacts of climate change and to address existing racial and gender inequalities, Latimpacto, a dynamic network of peers in Latin America and the Caribbean, is positioned as the catalyst that fosters collaborations, learning opportunities and connections between companies, organizations and foundations dedicated to maximizing resources for impact in our region.

As part of its purpose as an organization, Latimpacto will once again bring together world-class actors and investors who seek to contribute to social and environmental transformations in their communities. Third Impact Minds: Beyond Frontiers Conference, to be held September 9-12 in Oaxaca, Mexico.

After the Cartagena and Rio de Janeiro editions, this event has positioned itself as the only one in Latin America and the Caribbean that brings together more than 600 capital providers with a vision of impact from the private, public and philanthropic sectors, as well as global impact investors from nations in Europe, Asia, the United States and Canada, explains Carolina Suárez Visbal, CEO of Latimpacto.

The co-founder of the organization also mentions that Latimpacto was born thanks to its sister networks in Europe and Asia, which also work to maximize resources on issues of social and environmental impact. Today Latimpacto is positioned to articulate all of Latin America from Patagonia to the Caribbean.

"At the international level Latimpacto is that point of connection with Latin America, we interconnect with philanthropy networks, foundations, corporations with a regional outlook, we are united by a sense of community, advocacy, collaboration, learning opportunities and connections.".

In this edition, the Conference will focus on vital issues such as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), addressing gender and racial equity, and highlighting the need to include vulnerable populations in economic and social opportunities. "In Latin America we are far behind in social equity and equality, this implies that we incorporate more vulnerable populations, that gender or race are not a cause of lack of opportunities or how we interact as a society," Suarez points out.

Innovative Finance, which plays a fundamental role in generating systemic changes in inclusion and diversity, will also be explored, "at the Conference we will discuss how finance plays a fundamental role, we will talk about the concept of systemic change, how these actions generate systemic changes in inclusion and diversity".

Another crucial topic will be the Catalytic Green Fund, a fund dedicated to promoting, together with the IDB Lab, investments in clean and sustainable energy, with a financial approach that seeks to transform the region's energy landscape. In addition, the Bioeconomy will be addressed, highlighting its potential to promote sustainable economic development based on the use of renewable biological resources.

In fact, foundations such as SURA, FEMSA, Coppel and Coca-Cola Latin America, as well as Bayer Foundation, AB Inbev, Mercado Libre, Unicef, among others, reaffirmed their presence at this year's event. In Mexico, the Nacional Monte de Piedad, the government of Nuevo León, Fundación Frisa y Risa, and the Alianza de Inversión en México, among others, will be present.

Latimpacto will bring together in Mexico foundations and organizations, investment funds, universities, consultants, accelerators, families and their family offices, multilaterals and intermediaries with the objective of establishing connections and offering learning programs, resources, tools and innovative opportunities that favor the mobilization of capital so that resources are applied strategically.
