U.S. Foreign Assistance - Impact Networks Statement

The recent temporary suspension of U.S. foreign aid funding for development projects has created significant uncertainty in the global development community. Highlighting the urgent need for greater resilience and collaboration, our sister networks AVPN, AVPA, and Latimpacto reaffirm our commitment to fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among governments, multilateral organizations, academia, and the social and private sectors.

We believe this challenging time represents an opportunity to leverage strategic solutions that strengthen the ecosystem as a whole and its social and environmental missions. We must ensure that decisions are not taken lightly and that these measures, which we trust are temporary, can offer an opportunity to collectively rethink and provide more strategic solutions, strengthening the ecosystem as a whole and its social and environmental causes.

Our role is to support the development of flexible, collaborative, and sustainable financing strategies. By fostering partnerships between the private sector, philanthropic organizations, and local governments, we can help sustain essential social and environmental initiatives and prevent the disruption of critical programs. We are committed to protecting the most vulnerable populations and advocating for the fight against climate change.

With an estimated financing gap of $4.3 trillion to achieve the SDGs by 2030 (United Nations, 2023), we emphasize that the need for systemic approaches that integrate multiple actors beyond traditional policy frameworks is more critical than ever.

As interconnected networks, we stand ready to support and collaborate with our members across all our regions to drive innovative solutions to the challenges we face.

If these recent events have impacted your organization, we invite you to join us in creating collective strategies. Please send a message to comunidad@latimpacto.org. Together, we can navigate these turbulent times and continue advancing our shared mission.
