Our focus areas

Innovative mechanisms to support Climate Action and Conservation.

  1. Sustainable use of land and resources.

The future of the Amazon as a dynamic, transboundary, social and environmental ecosystem.

How do we do it?

Generating knowledge and exchange events between actors who know about climate action and conservation issues and those who are interested in starting to work on them.

Fostering learning spaces for innovative models to address the most important issues in the topics that touch this community.

Developing reports and analysis situations so that organizations providing impact capital can have valuable first-hand information and recommendations about geographic issues and models where their impact strategies can have the best social and environmental returns. valuable first-hand information and recommendations about the geographic issues and patterns where their impact strategies can have the best social and environmental returns.

We seek to generate a community where trust and determination for collective work are key, attracting them to this community through Study Trips and
high-level meetings.

The Amazon is a highly interconnected region. Understanding that this issue deepens in the private impact ecosystem, Latimpacto created the Pan-Amazon Impact Ecosystem Program connecting organizations from all Amazonian countries (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil) to work better from the search for common challenges and opportunities that allow for efficient support through a regional outlook and an innovative approach to finance. Climate action and conservation

Space for conversation with Marcia Soares. Head of Partnerships and Networks Fundação Vale

Why is it important to encourage conversations and activities around climate action and conservation?

I agree that climate change is one of the biggest challenges humanity will face in the coming years. All research around the world indicates that it will have very drastic effects on food production, rainfall patterns and the occurrence of natural disasters, to name just a few. And once again, the most disadvantaged and vulnerable part of society will be the ones to suffer the consequences. Those working to solve social and environmental problems cannot close their eyes to this reality. It is a problem of the present, no longer of the future. We are experiencing a climate emergency where social inequalities will be even more profound. It is urgent that we think of solutions and ways to minimize the inevitable impacts that lie ahead.

What is the added value that Fundo Vale sees in Latimpacto leading these conversations?
This is a very relevant topic to be discussed within the scope of Latimpacto. Through a Venture Philanthropy approach, we can seek solutions to reduce emissions and enable climate adaptation for the people who will be affected. The potential for connections and mobilization of financial resources that Latimpacto presents in Latin America and beyond, in Europe and Asia, allows us to promote a qualified discussion and think of collective impacts to address the issue. In Brazil, we have some movements led by philanthropy that are already thinking of solutions to keep the Amazon without deforestation, standing. The rainforest is one of the planet's great carbon reservoirs and has a direct impact on climate change. The potential of the economy of biodiversity and traditional peoples always appears as an alternative that unites environmental conservation and income generation. But to strengthen this bioeconomy, we need both philanthropic and market resources. The contribution of philanthropy can make a difference, for sure, especially with an approach that brings together financial contributions, technical assistance and impact measurement. Given that the Amazon rainforest spans nine countries in the region, we have the opportunity to create within Latimpacto a collective regional impact initiative around the bioeconomy and climate change.
