Fondo de Cultura Latinoamérica, how are we doing?

In line with the construction of the ecosystem that highlights Latimpacto, a call for proposals is being developed within the Culture Fund. Culture Latin America together with the Sura Foundation.

In this initiative, fifteen (15) cultural and artistic projects will be selected, each one made up of organizations from two different countries: Mexico, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Panama, Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Chile and Uruguay. This implies the participation of thirty (30) cultural organizations from these nine (9) countries, which strengthens both individual and collective work within the cultural sector.

The call began on January 9 with the submission of projects, which were accepted until March 17 of this year, with a total of more than 700 proposals covering a wide range of disciplines, from music, dance, theater, visual arts, literature, film to cultural knowledge representative of the region. Subsequently, the first review of the projects was carried out through the systematization of the information, in which the proposals were classified into the following categories: 1) creation, 2) artistic and/or cultural pedagogical practices, 3) production, 4) projection, circulation and disseminationTo date, we have approximately 40% of projects that have met the minimum requirements to be evaluated by a panel of experts in the coming weeks.

It is important to note that, in these reviews, there is a broad participation of cultural and artistic organizations from Colombia, Mexico, Chile and Peru. This is evidence of a significant exchange of knowledge and artistic expressions that enrich the cultural heritage and promote social development in the region. In addition, this collaboration contributes to the consolidation of a diverse agenda of projects and activities specific to each of the participating countries, depending on the proposals selected.

What's next?

After the initial evaluation of the proposals by the evaluators, a pre-selection of projects will be carried out. At this stage, the corresponding organizations will be contacted to present a detailed justification of their proposals in order to finalize the selection of the projects. The list of selected projects is expected to be announced in June, and they will be responsible for executing their activities until July 2025.
