Pro Mujer, Belcorp Foundation & Latimpacto build strategic alliance to train migrant women entrepreneurs.

Pro Mujer, a social enterprise with more than 33 years of experience in promoting gender equality in Latin America, joins forces with Fundación Belcorp and Latimpacto in a tripartite alliance that seeks to impact migrant women through the Emprende Pro Mujer platform.

The feminization of migration has increased substantially in recent years, and currently, out of the 214 million migrants in the world, 491 million are women, according to the United Nations. In order to find more possibilities, women say goodbye to their countries of origin and arrive in a new reality crossed by multiple factors that limit their access to educational and employment opportunities.

In this context, it is imperative to understand the migration phenomenon as an opportunity and from a gender perspective, which allows us to offer migrant women support through entrepreneurship as a vehicle to strengthen their empowerment and improve their quality of life.

In order to meet this challenge, Pro Mujer, Belcorp Foundation & Latimpacto created an entrepreneurial training module that incorporates the psychosocial competence of migrant women and approaches learning from an intersectional perspective that addresses the particularities of their context.

The module will provide the necessary tools to achieve autonomy, as it seeks to strengthen their leadership skills and emotional resilience. In addition, users will have access to multiple contents available on the platform on finance, negotiation, sales, financing and technological tools; they will be accompanied by specialists and will be able to connect with other entrepreneurs in the region, creating a support network that is essential for their development.

This alliance, which will initially impact Colombian migrant women entrepreneurs thanks to the support of Fundación Belcorp, may later reach migrant women throughout Latin America and the United States, since the contents of the "Emprende Pro Mujer" platform have the potential to impact the migrant women's community throughout the region.

Emprende Pro Mujer is a gender-focused entrepreneurial training platform that provides access to educational content to cover the entire business development cycle (from creation to acceleration) for women entrepreneurs. Since its inception, Emprende Pro Mujer has become a powerful tool to unlock the potential of women in the region, and in the course of 1 year, more than 32 thousand women have strengthened their skills, ideas and businesses thanks to the platform's programs.

"Entrepreneurship led by migrant women in Latin America is a driving force for the economy and generates employment. Thanks to Latimpacto and Belcorp Foundation, we will be able to reach more women in the region and continue to break down the barriers they face on a daily basis to access services and tools that allow them to boost their businesses. Throughout 2023, we will continue to encourage their development, reinforcing our commitment and impact, says Carmen Correa, CEO of Pro Mujer.

"This partnership allows us to impact a greater number of women entrepreneurs, providing them with the tools they need to strengthen their businesses and thus become a source of progress for them and their families. Migrant women face particular vulnerabilities and this module will enable them to strengthen their resilience to lead more sustainable businesses," said Verónica Melzi, Manager of Fundación Belcorp.

"Creating high-impact projects like this one we have created together with Belcorp Foundation and Pro Mujer reaffirms our commitment to the impact that collaborations can have within the impact ecosystem. We hope that this module will be enriching for migrant women in all corners of the region to process their experiences and strengthen the potential they have to succeed. In the same way, I can not fail to thank Caminantas, in Mexico, for all their support in this process," says Carolina Suarez, CEO of Latimpacto.
